Dr Joshua Chua

B.A., B.S. (U.S.A), MD (S’pore), MRCS (Ireland)

Dr Joshua Chua obtained his M.D. at Duke-NUS Medical School in 2014 and initially undertook training in Neurosurgery becoming a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons before switching to General Practice. Prior to medical school, he obtained his undergraduate degrees in Biology with Honors and Accounting at the University of Washington. His professional experience includes rotations in General Medicine, Intensive Care, High Dependency, Cardiology, Neurology, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Medical Oncology.

Outside the hospital, he is significantly involved with the development of the National University Hospital’s Hospital at Home program as well as various home based medical care programs. He is also active with supporting Singapore General Hospital’s Mobile Inpatient Care program. The breadth of experiences and rewarding patient journeys has made him deeply passionate about delivering high quality comprehensive care to his patients at home as well as in clinic.

Dr Chua is also active in academic medicine . As a Visiting Researcher at Stanford University, he published multiple peer-reviewed papers and abstracts on Stroke, Neural Stem Cell therapies and Cell Imaging as well as on Brain Tumor, mRNA therapy and Cancer Immunotherapy while in Duke University. He is also a review editor and teaches at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.

Dr. Chua is dedicated to a holistic approach in supporting patients’ health journeys, emphasizing the importance of listening to patients and integrating their health philosophies to help them achieve their goals. His comprehensive strategy includes not just medical care but also a strong focus on nutrition, mental health, and exercise. This commitment is highlighted by his certification in Developing a Sustainable Nutrition Plan, showcasing his belief in a well-rounded approach to health and wellness.

In his spare time, Dr Chua enjoys music and giving back to the community. He was the founder for Singapore’s inaugural World Autism Day celebrations as well as the first Pediatric Brain Tumor Awareness Day in Singapore. He also co-composed and produced 3 fundraising musicals performed at Suntec City and Raffles Hotel for Anglo Chinese School (Barker).

At home, he is a proud father of a young infant and appreciates the importance of holistic and comprehensive healthcare that can be provided both in the clinic or at the convenience of a home.
